Shovel Knight is Digging its Way to the Nintendo Switch

The indie hit Shovel Knight is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch. Believe it or not, that’s not the big news from Yacht Club Games’ announcement.

In addition to the game coming to a new platform, Yacht Club Games has also announced a new plan for the series. Moving forward, the game will now be referred to as Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. This all-inclusive titles will then hold all the current and upcoming campaigns and updates.

For anyone who has already purchased the game, every update will be completely free. However, a new purchase option is available for anyone looking to jump in. Newcomers can now purchase specific campaigns at a lower value for PS4, Xbox One, PC, or Nintendo Switch. For this to work, the original campaign will now be referred to as Shovel of Hope. Players can also buy Plague of Shadows or the upcoming Specter of Torment. Another campaign starring King Knight will be releasing later in 2017.

Each Knight plays completely differently, so there is plenty of reason to jump into each one. It’s nice to know that there is a discounted way to hop in if you don’t plan to replay it.

Additionally, a few other features are incoming. For local multiplayer, a four-player Battle Mode is on the way. The two-player co-op mode that was previously exclusive to Wii U will also make its way to other consoles. A Body Swap mode will also allow you to switch the genders of Shovel Knight or Shield Knight.

Shovel Knight remains one of the greatest indie games in the past few years, and these updates continue to remind us why. We highly suggest you jump right in, you won’t be disappointed.
