The Guest is a dark and thrilling first-person puzzle game coming to Steam next month from publisher 505 Games (known for such titles as Terraria, PAYDAY 2, and Sniper Elite 3) and Team Gotham, an independent game studio based in Madrid, Spain. It’s an impressive-looking debut title from the rookie game studio, whose similar vision and passion brought the four collaborators together as students. They formed the studio following their graduation, and promise many more exciting things in the future.
The game is set in the 1980s, at an eerie, rundown hotel known as the Oakwood. Players will control Dr. Evgueni Leonov, an old Russian scientist who checks into the Oakwood, only to discover that he has become a captive in his room. Players must solve riddles, piece together clues, and work out complex puzzles in a thoroughly creepy atmosphere in order to escape. All the while, they will slowly uncover Leonov’s enigmatic backstory, making for a truly compelling experience. The environment evokes a sense of mystery and foreboding that, combined with the skillful storytelling and challenging gameplay, will have players truly captivated.
Who has locked Evgeuni in his hotel room, and more importantly, why? The truth is buried in layers of mystery and intrigue. Play the game to find out. The Guest release date has been set for March 10, 2016, and it will be available on Steam for $9.99. No word on whether or not any console versions are in the works, but we’ll keep you post.
