Halo Show’s Master Chief Cast

It’s been a long road for Showtime’s Halo series. It was roughly six years ago when 343 Industries declared a live-action adaptation of the iconic game franchise was in the works. Progress seemed to finally be made in November when casting calls went out. A now, a pivotal role has been assigned. Pablo Schreiber has been confirmed as Showtime’s Halo show Master Chief.

Schreiber is one of the actors that you see in a ton of projects but rarely in a leading role. He had a role in the Dwayne Johnson blockbuster spectacle Skyscraper last year. But Schreiber is more largely known for his television roles in which there are many.

Pablo had a crucial role in HBO’s The Wire during its second season. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series during his run in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. And he’s one of the lead characters in Starz’s American Gods adaptation as the leprechaun Mad Sweeney.

As Showtime’s Halo show Master Chief, it’s expected that Schreiber won’t be stuck wearing head gear the entire time. In the game series, it’s rare for the character to ever remove his helmet at anytime. Thus making the character’s actual appearance a bit of an enigma. This will likely be rethought for the live-action series.

In addition to Pablo Schreiber, Yerin Ha has been cast in the role of Quan Ah. The character, unknown in current Halo canon, is a “shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both.”

Dr. Catherine Halsey is also expected to be cast in the Halo series. The character is the creator of the SPARTAN-II program that evolved John-117 into the super soldier he is. Though later she seeks to protect the Spartan’s rather than encourage their use in wars. No one has been official cast as Halsey that we know of.

Production on Showtime’s Halo series is set to begin next June in Budapest. Hopefully we’ll hear more about the game series’ adaptation soon. Until then, we’ll just have to wait for   later this year at E3 2019.
