Though The Predator is still in production, and releasing March 2, 2018, director Shane Black has tweeted yet another image of the set and new cast members. In this image are stars Alfie Allen (Games of Thrones), Augusto Aguilera (Chasing Life), Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu, Key & Peele), Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan), and Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight).
According to Cinemablend, Rhodes is one of the main characters who is “a Special Forces cat. [The character is] best friends with Boyd Holbrook’s character. I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say… [His name is] Nebraska Williams. It’s a real cool thing–it’s a real cool story, honestly. It’s a really cool character, man, and it’s a Shane Black film. It’s Predator, but it’s also a Shane Black film.”
Black’s sterling reputation comes from his directing work on Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys, and written work on Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout. In the context of The Predator, however, just last year Black told Thrillist that this reboot will be a much larger scale than any of the other remakes, “I think the first one was great, and it was contained, and it was a perfect little gem for what it was. I think there’s an expansion that needs to take place, and also just a love for that era, that movie, and the mythology of the Predator. I think that they came to me knowing pretty much that… they said, basically, if I wanted to make Predator but treat it like it was Iron Man 3 instead of just another little movie. I said, ‘Let’s really do it right this time.'”
