According to a tweet by director Ava Duvernay, the principal photography is done for the A Wrinkle in Time movie (in theaters April 6th, 2018) and apparently it was “an epic adventure” and she “loved each and every minute.”
The cast includes plenty of favorite stars, like Oprah Winfrey (it’s certainly nice to see her acting again after The Butler), Reese Witherspoon (who has starred in her fair share of romantic comedies), and Andre Holland, known for Selma and Moonlight.
DuVernay wanted to thank the crew of the film and the studio “for standing with me every step of the way.” She also thanked each cast member via a tweet, including Mindy Kaling: “she was the very first Wrinkle casting idea I had”, Witherspoon: “she blew me away every day with her tremendous talent”, Winfrey: “her role as Mrs. Which is literally out of this world”, Rowan Blanchard: “she’s a real artist with a voice”, Holland: “a dream of an actor and a man”, and plenty more.
It sure sounds like DuVernay had lots of fun and is happy to share the love with all she worked with. Her comments for each actor are certainly warm, and all of them deserve it.
I admit my focus is on Winfrey, however. After discovering her in Beloved, a movie based off a novel by Toni Morrison, I subsequently learned of Winfrey’s past in activism and film. I can’t help but be thrilled to see her in what will surely be a great film since it’s based off such a famous book.
How do you think A Wrinkle In Time will translate to film? Will it be any good? Are you looking forward to Winfrey’s role as well? Let us know in the comments below!
