New Line has announced this morning that actor Bonnie Aarons will reprise her role for The Nun, the upcoming horror movie spinoff of The Conjuring 2.
The news comes from Variety, who notes that Demian Bichir and Taissa Farmiga will be starring in the film, and shooting will begin in Romania in May.
The spinoff film was announced last June, just after The Conjuring 2 hit theaters. We learned in February that director Corin Hardy will be taking the reins for The Nun, with a script being written by James Wan and Gary Dauberman.
The script, in its current form, will center on Bichir’s character taking a trip to Rome to investigate the killing of a nun. Of course, the demon nun is a manifestation of an evil spirit named Valak, who we saw in The Conjuring 2.
Aarons will also soon be seen in The Possessed, another supernatural thriller (this one is set in New Orleans) that is set to release at some point later this year.
More From Nerd Much?:
New Line will hope to replicate the success it saw with their 2014 spinoff, Annabelle, which brought in $256M on its $6M budget.
The Nun is set to release on July 13, 2018, but fans are showing some concern with the movie actually making that release date because of Corin Hardy’s previous commitment to directing the Crow reboot that’s also set for 2018. Time will only tell if New Line will have to push it back or not, but for now, tentatively expect it in July 2018.
