Many were nervous when it was first announced that the popular franchise would be coming to theaters. Video game movie adaptations typically don’t have the best track record (we’re looking at you Super Mario Bros.). Sometimes however, they right franchise comes along that makes perfect sense as a movie. With the right actors and productions team, it might actually end up good.
Based on the trailer, we are a little more confident that Assassin’s Creed could be one of the good ones. The movie has the gravitas without feeling cheesy or forced. It really felt like it could stand on its own as a movie and that is what is truly important. While we admit that the song choice doesn’t quite fit the imagery on screen, we aren’t too worried about it.
As the story goes, Michael Fassbender plays Callum Lynch enters a revolutionary technology called the Animus. With it, he can unlock the memories of Aguilar, his 15th century Spanish ancestor. Through his memories, he discovers that he is part of a secret organization called the Assassin’s and that he must fight against the oppressive Templar.
We hope you were as surprised as we are by how good the Assassin’s Creed movie trailer was. With no game coming out this year, there will be no franchise fatigue stopping us from seeing this when it hit theaters on December 21, 2016.
