The Booster Gold movie has been a rumor for a while now. According to producer Greg Berlanti, those rumors are true. Zack Stents will be penning the script.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Berlanti said “I’m attached to a few films [at Warner Bros.] now, and one, Booster Gold, is a DC property. Zack Stentz, who wrote an episode of Flash last year, just got the job, so he’s writing the script now.”
The episode of The Flash that he is referring to is this week’s episode that was directed by Kevin Smith. It was apparently this gig that caused the delays in the announcement. Previously Stents worked on X-Men: First Class.
Previously, rumors suggested that Booster would be teaming up with Blue Beetle in some sort of light-hearted, “buddy cop” film. Berlanti has made no mention of it.
For those who don’t know, Berlanti is the producer of the major DC shows including The Flash, Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. With as well-received as these shows have been, we feel like this movie is in good hands.
Other rumors suggested that Berlanti was at one point going to direct The Flash movie. However, he has said he wouldn’t even do it if he was asked. “No one’s discussed that with me, but I could never direct a Flash movie that Grant Gustin wasn’t the lead of,” Berlanti said. “He’s my Flash.”
We would love to have a Booster Gold movie. Even with all these superhero movies, we can’t stop going back for more.
