At the D23 Expo in Anaheim, actress Evangeline Lilly tweeted a photo of the first poster we’ve seen for Ant-Man and The Wasp. The poster features Lilly, in costume, as The Wasp. Before this, we only caught a glimpse of The Wasp’s suit design in a post credits scene of Ant-Man. It was implied in the scene to be unfinished at the time, however, so it seems that this poster is what the final design is. Though the designs are fairly similar, it seems those red and blue accents are not a part of the end product.
The suit is nonetheless an upgrade from the original, as stated by Janet Van Dyne’s husband in the post credits scene. It was not finished in time for Janet to wear it, so her daughter Hope (as played by Lilly) will be donning the suit instead. Hopefully in the new film, we’ll get to see Hope do more than just spread her new wings.
Ant-Man and The Wasp is directed by Peyton Reed, who directed the previous film in the series as well as Yes Man, and The Break-Up. We’re sure to see some great drama and comedy again from Reed. The film is written by Andrew Barrer (Haunt), Gabriel Ferrari, Adam McKay (The Big Short), and produced by Kevin Feige (Iron Man).
Other than the esteemed Lilly, Ant-Man and The Wasp will also star returning actors Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michael Peña as Luis. As odd as it may seem, it’s good to see Douglas back in the acting shoes in such a big Marvel movie, even if it isn’t as popular a film series as The Avengers. It really brings home just how old Back to the Future is though, and I’m not sure that’s a good thing.
