Warner Bros. has announced the release date for the upcoming sequel, Wonder Woman 2, as December 13, 2019. Both Gal Gabot (in her role as Wonder Woman) and director Patty Jenkins will be returning for the sequel, though Jenkins presence hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. There have been no plot details released yet, however, so we don’t know where we will be seeing Wonder Woman next in her solo movie. Will World War I still be going on or will she be going after the often used villains in the Nazis? Or will it be an entirely new villain, hopefully slightly better than the last one.
After the success of the first Wonder Woman, it seems natural that a sequel would come of it. That success is more than any superhero film for the past 15 years, grossing $389 million at the domestic box office. A feat in itself, especially with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiering over the same weekend.
If you’re keen on seeing Wonder Woman beforehand, Gabot will also appear in the upcoming Justice League film, which releases this November 16, 2017. Other returning superheroes include Ben Affleck as Batman, and the debut of Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Flash, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. The latter three have yet to star in their solo films, with Aquaman coming out December 21, 2018 and Flash Point not having a director or release date yet.
More From Nerd Much?:
That said, Warner Bros. also teased a few future films with logos at the San Diego Comic Convention, including Shazam!, Flash Point, The Batman, Batgirl, Justice League Dark, Green Lantern Corps, and Suicide Squad 2. There was also a mystery DC film teased, utterly untitled, which stated the release date of February 14, 2020. A future Valentine’s Day film, and it won’t be Deadpool, so what else could it be? Is there a particularly romantic DC hero out there? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
