Although not exactly part of the DC Extended Universe, Warner Bros. is still churning out the superhero flicks. The studio has announced that they are planning to bring a theatrical version of Teen Titans Go! to cinemas next summer.
The movie will likely be a standalone outing for the Teen Titans team, and not any form of continuation of a preexisting television plot line. The show in which the film is based around, Team Titans Go!, is in the midst of airing its fourth season on the Cartoon Network.
The movie is likely to recast the current series’ voice acting team in their respective roles. It’s a small cast who each portray an array of voices for the show. The team mostly consists of Scott Menville (Robin and others), Khary Payton (Cyborg and others), Tara Strong (Raven and others), Greg Cipes (Beast Boy and others) and Hynden Walch (Starfire and others). It’s also expected that series creators Arnold Drake, George Pérez and Marv Wolfman will all be involved with the film to some degree.
While the plot line for the Teen Titans Go! movie may be unknown at this point, the Cartoon Network based team isn’t the only one hitting screens. Teen Titans: The Judas Contract saw a different and more mature version of the team in a direct to video film. The film released in April 2017 to mixed reviews.
There is also a live action version of the team coming to television in 2018. That version, known as Titans, was poised to premiere on TNT, however the network has since backed out. It’s now set to debut with DC Comic’s upcoming digital service and some point in 2018. The show follows Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Robin as he attempts to form a team with the likes of Anna Diop’s Starfire, Teagan Croft’s Raven, Alan Ritchson’s Hawk and Minka Kelly’s Dove. \
Warner Bros. plans to release Teen Titans Go! into theaters on July 27th, 2018.
