Matthew Vaughn has been a busy man of late – and it appears he will continue to be. While still heavily involved with his latest project, an espionage based thriller known as I Am Pilgrim, Vaughn looks to have his post Pilgrim plans locked up too.
Deadline is reporting that Vaughn has agreed to sign on as a producer and likely serve as director as well for a project entitled Courage. Courage is an original concept written by Karl Gajdusek. Gajdusek previously served as an executive producer on the mega popular Netflix original, Stranger Things.
Deadline heaps lofty praise onto Gajdusek’s project. The outlet labels Courage as “an epic premise, a drama in the vein of Inception and Edge of Tomorrow.” Those are two incredibly renowned films within the sci-fi genre. If the comparison is accurate, we could be in line to see something special.
Vaughn, of course, comes attached with a lofty pedigree of films under is resume. Since 2010, he’s been attached to some huge projects, including: Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. He was also behind 2015’s Fantastic Four reboot, but we’ll let him slide on that one.
Courage will be produced by Vaughn via his Marv Films label. He’s joined by producer Michael Ellenberg of Media Res. Fox purchased the rights to Courage, which Matt Reilly will oversee for said studio. There’s still nothing but speculation at this point as to whether Vaughn will actually sign on to direct Courage.
No release window has been mentioned by Fox, Vaughn, or anyone else attached. Courage is in the earliest stages of pre-production at this point. In fact, I Am Pilgrim still has yet to formalize a release date. So we’re likely still quite a few years out from getting anything solid in regards to Gajdusek’s Courage.
