Deadpool & Céline Dion Team-up for Music Video

Deadpool 2 continues to kill it in the marketing department. And this time Ryan Reynolds and his team have brought in one of the most iconic singers in history to help – Céline Dion.

The artists’ song “Ashes” appears on the Deadpool 2 soundtrack which is available now. And to promote both the song and the film, Dion filmed a music video for the track which features Deadpool himself.

And while Deadpool is featured prominently in the video for Ashes, the portrayer of the character is almost certainly not Ryan Reynolds. And if it is, well, then, that man is beyond talented.

Throughout the video Deadpool performs like someone that has practiced dance throughout their entire lives. It’s certainly a professional dancer under the costume, and likely even a woman donning the suit. But it melds perfectly with the character at the heart of the Merc with the Mouth.

Deadpool and Céline take turns dominating the camera through performances that are equally impressive on both ends. As the song concludes we get what is perhaps the highlight of the video, as good as it was,  the joke attached to the end.

Deadpool is now at the back of theater in what appears to be the role of director now for the shoot. “Céline! That was amazing!” the Merc shouts – now assuredly played by Ryan Reynolds. “That was the most beautiful performance I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Céline smiles, “Thank you so much, thank you.” Deadpool then continues, “No, thank you! We need to do it again…” The singer looks on perplexed, saying “Okay… why?” Deadpool then explains, “Well it’s too good. Yeah, this is Deadpool 2, not Titanic. You’re at like an 11. We need to get you down to a 5, 5 ½ tops. Just phone it in.”

To which Céline replies with the best burn she can muster, “Listen, this thing (pointing to herself) only goes to 11. So beat it Spider-Man.” Deadpool then realizes his mistake, telling himself “God, I should have asked NSYNC…”

Deadpool 2 dances its way into theaters on May 18th. Checkout the final trailer for the movie here.
