Final Overlord Trailer Reanimates Our Interest

Paramount Pictures has released their final Overlord trailer today. The footage gives us our best look yet at the fictitious Nazi experiments than resulted in some pretty horrific results.

If you haven’t been keeping up on J.J. Abrams’ latest, the movie essentially tells the story of American paratroopers who find a secret Nazi lab in which the Germans are reanimating dead soldiers. As you can see from today’s final Overlord trailer, this doesn’t bode well for our American crew. Here’s the official plot description from Paramount:

“With only hours until D-Day, a team of American paratroopers drop into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission that’s crucial to the invasion’s success. Tasked with destroying a radio transmitter atop a fortified church, the desperate soldiers join forces with a young French villager to penetrate the walls and take down the tower. But, in a mysterious Nazi lab beneath the church, the outnumbered G.I.s come face-to-face with enemies unlike any the world has ever seen.”

While J.J. Abrams’ name is the biggest one attached, the movie is being directed by Julius Avery. The script was written by Billy Ray and Mark L. Smith, and Lindsey Weber joins Abrams as one the film’s producers.

As smartly mentioned within today’s final Overlord trailer, the film is getting pretty good reviews. It first premiered at Fantastic Fest a couple of weeks ago and holds a current Rotten Tomatoes fresh rating of 93% after 14 reviews were published.

The movie was thought to be linked to Abrams’ Cloverfield universe when news of its production first began. Abrams later confirmed during CinemaCon in April that it in fact was not.

With a primary cast consisting of Wyatt Russell, Jovan Adepo, Jacob Anderson, Dominic Applewhite, Pilou Asbæk, Iain De Caestecker, John Magaro, Mathilde Ollivier, and Bokeem Woodbine, Overlord debuts in theaters on November 9th.
