Second Glass Trailer Delivers on Shyamalan’s Promise

When audiences watched the conclusion to M. Night Shyamalan’s Split, there was a scene at the end that blew people’s minds (as Shyamalan is prone to do). Bruce Willis appears as his character David Dunn from Shyamalan’s 2000 film, Unbreakable. The small cameo confirmed that both Split and Unbreakable are part of a larger, more exciting world. Soon we’ll get to see those worlds collide. And our most extensive look came today via the second Glass trailer.

Today’s second Glass trailer begins with a sedated Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson) being held within a psychiatric ward. He’s too dangerous to be given his full mental capacities, and he’s “checked out” anyway due to his incarceration from his actions as the villainous Mr. Glass during the events of Unbreakable.

Glass’ motivation immediately reemerges as soon as he realizes that David Dunn is also housed in the same psychiatric ward. The duo are being kept there because of their “delusions of grandeur”. But also in the same ward is Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), a man suffering from dissociative identity disorder. Crumb houses another being known as “The Beast”, which is something that Mr. Glass is quite interested in.

Second Glass Trailer

Here is Universal’s brief description of Shyamalan’s Glass, which smashes together these iconic, comic book-ish worlds:

“Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.”

In the second Glass trailer we get to see much more of Sarah Paulson’s Dr. Ellie Staple too. Staple is a psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of those with delusions of grandeur – specifically those that think they are superhuman. It’s painfully obvious that at some point early in this movie Dr. Staple is going to realize she has been very, very wrong about these three.

It doesn’t take long for Mr. Glass to get to know Crumb, teaming up with the pair to eventually thwart Bruce Willis’ Dunn. Universal’s second Glass trailer teases a lot of the action we’ll be seeing between Mr. Glass, The Beast, and The Overseer, which is what Dunn is called within the film.

We don’t have long before we finally see the long teased interaction between these super powered men. Glass hits theaters January 18th.
