New Godzilla: King of the Monsters Trailer Puts the Spotlight on the Titans

With just over 5 months before it arrives, we’ve got our best look yet at the upcoming Godzilla sequel. Warner Bros. dropped a new Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer today. And the studio didn’t hold back, showcases the Titans in all their glory.

The new Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer begins with Millie Bobby Brown’s Madison Russell. It looks as though the young starlet will have a leading role alongside her movie parents of Mark Russell (Kyle Chandler) and Dr. Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga). It’s said that Emma and Madison are kidnapped by a “mysterious organization, with their own plans for the creatures.” Mark then sets out on a rescue mission to save them.

The real stars of the new Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer are the Titans though. We see Rodan emerge from a volcano early on in the trailer. From there on he does his part by raining terror down from above.

We, of course, get a quick glimpse of Mothra in the new Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer too. The creature apparently has a bond of sorts with Madison, which will likely affect allegiances as the story plays out. But King Ghidorah is the monster many are excited to see most.

The three-headed Titan looks to be a worthy adversary to our King of the Monsters. And just as the two are about to go toe-to-toe, the trailer cuts and gives us the title card instead. While you can surmise the upcoming flick as “monsters fight” pretty accurately, here’s the official synopsis coming straight from Warner Bros.:

“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will land in theaters on May 31st. And then the following year brings us the culmination of the MonsterVerse in Godzilla vs. Kong.
