The Dead Don’t Die Trailer Highlights It’s Hilarious Cast

When you tout yoru film as having “the greatest zombie cast ever disassembled,” you better be able to back it up. And it appears as though Focus Features and the film’s writer and director, Jim Jarmusch, has done just that. The first The Dead Don’t Die trailer dropped today, teasing an upcoming zombie-themed flick loaded with delightfully deadpan comedy.

You’ll quickly notice the stellar cast that Jarmusch was able to assemble. Many of them pop up here and there throughout The Dead Don’t Die trailer. Adam Driver leads the movie alongside Bill Murray as Office Ronald Peterson and his superior Chief Cliff Robertson respectively. Chloë Sevigny is also a member of the their team as a novice officer still learning the ropes.

The trailer hints that the movie begins with Danny Glover’s Hank Thompson calling the police over after an unexplained attack on his diner. Murray’s Chief Robertson asks Driver’s Officer Peterson, “So what are you thinking?” To which the latter deadpans, “I’m thinking zombies.” Robertson responds with a perplexed, “What?”

Peterson is, of course, correct. As we see a montage of the dead rising from their graves. We’re then introduced to Tilda Swinton’s character who appears to be a mortuary makeup artist. Oh, and she’s also quite adept at wielding a katana which quickly proves useful.

We then quickly see Selena Gomez, Austin Butler and Luka Sabbat’s characters watching the news unfold on the news. And then we see Steve Buscemi as Farmer Miller grabbed by the throat by a zombie through his door.

There’s more deadpan from Driver as his character and the other police drive through the city assessing the damage. He explains that the zombies “gravitate towards things they did when they were alive.” Which cues up a hilarious moment as an undead Carol Kane walks into the scene moaning “chardonnay”.

There’s then confirmation of a bunch of other players in The Dead Don’t Die Trailer. Actors listed outside of the ones above are Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA and Tom Waits. The movie stumbles into theaters June 14th.
