The Eternals Cast to Add Richard Madden

Earlier today, Disney announced its future film slate which includes eight untitled projects in the works within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s a well known secret that The Eternals is likely one of the movies coming sooner rather than later. Which is all but confirmed with a new report indicating that The Eternals cast is poised to add former Game of Thrones alum, Richard Madden.

Madden became famous for his portrayal of Robb Stark in the hit HBO series. The King in the North then went on to a slew of other projects before landing the role of PS David Budd in BBC’s Bodyguard. Madden won the 2019 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a television series drama for his efforts.

The Wrap broke the news of Madden joining The Eternals cast. Though they state “details about Madden’s character [are] being kept under wraps.”

Richard Madden would be the third high profile name to join the project. It was previously revealed that The Eternals cast already features Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani, also in unknown roles.

Outside of the aforementioned reveals on The Eternals cast, we know little else about the film. The series revolves around “a group of ancient beings” and Matthew and Ryan Firpo have been hired to adapt their story to screenplay.

Chloe Zhao is set to direct the movie. Zhao is known for her directing, screenwriting and producing credits on her 2017 western drama, The Rider. Cameras are expected to begin rolling in London on The Eternals this September.

It was The Wrap that also confirmed in April 2018 that The Eternals movie was happening. At the time, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige stated the project was “one of many many many things that we are actively beginning to have creative discussions about to see if we believe in them enough to put them on a slate.”

Disney and Marvel obviously do believe in the project because it’s happening. The film will likely hit theaters as one of the first MCU Phase 4 movies in either May or November of next year.
