Wreck-It Ralph 2 has officially been announced by Disney! Better yet, we already have a release date for theaters. He’s gonna wreck it again!
The sequel to the 2012 film has begun development and is scheduled for a March 9, 2018 release. While Wreck-It Ralph 2 had previously been mentioned by John C. Reilly, this is the first time Disney has officially mentioned it.
In the first movie, the titular character fought his archetype as an arcade boss in order to become the hero he wanted to be. Based on the concept art provided in the Twitter announcement, Ralph can be seen standing over billboards that parody many real-life websites like Google and Amazon.
“It’s top secret but I’ll tell you this much… Ralph leaves the arcade and wrecks the Internet,” Reilly teased. “What could go wrong?”
Returning to co-direct Wreck-It Ralph 2 are Rich Moor and Phil Johnston. Together the pair directed and wrote the first film.
Wreck-It Ralph was a great homage to classic video games while providing a fresh feel. We are excited to see why and how Ralph deals with the internet. Are the websites up to something shady or is he simply trying to expand his presence. We still have to wait almost two years for this animated movie to release, so get those coins ready!
