Clone Movie Adaptation On the Way From Universal

Clone movieDavid Schulner’s cult comic book series CLONE, which was a big hit for its 20-issue run for Image Comics, is now being developed into a movie, instead of the originally planned TV series.

The CLONE movie will be produced by David Alpert for Skybound Entertainment through Furst Films and under the Universal umbrella.

The comic book series follows the story of Dr. Luke Taylor, whose life is interrupted when a clone of himself knocks on his front door covered in blood and tells Taylor that he is just one of many clones. The clones are after Taylor’s pregnant wife and their unborn child, forcing Taylor to defend his family, facing younger, stronger versions of himself as he tries to uncover the truth behind the Clone program. The comic series had incredibly fast-paced action, and the movie will undoubtedly play out like a sci-fi action movie.

The CLONE TV series was originally in development for NBC, and was then picked up by SyFy, but because its themes were too closely aligned with Orphan Black, the network decided to put the series on the shelf. Instead, we’re going to get a CLONE movie, and if it’s successful, there’s enough source material to make it into a series.

There’s no word on a release date or window for the movie just yet, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more, as we were a big fan of what the comic series had to offer and we’re always looking for new sci-fi movies to watch. In the meantime, you can check out the comic book on Amazon.
