‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Box Office Numbers Hit $1 Billion
We already know that superhero movies are big winners at the box office, and Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is certainly no exception to that, as the movie will hit a $1 billion gross on Friday, making it Joss Whedon’s most successful film to date.
According to Variety, Age of Ultron will join the original Avengers and Iron Man 3 as being Marvel Studios’ billion-dollar movies. Meanwhile, this will be Disney’s eighth film to cross the mark.
The current highest-grossing movie in the U.S. of the year so far is Furious 7, which raked in $339 million following its release last month. Ultron has remained in the number one slot in theaters across America since its opening weekend, but will now go head to head with Mad Max: Fury Road, which releases today.
Age of Ultron opened to with the second biggest opening weekend of all time — a record held by the first Avengers movie.
Avengers: Age of Ultron has generally received positive response following its release, holding an 8.1/10.0 on IMDB from nearly 180,000 users, with many praising the stellar cast and playful humor.
