Star Wars fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of The Force Awakens ever since it was first announced. It is not surprise then that even with the movie just releasing yesterday, it has already set box office records.
From Thursday night alone, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already brought in $57 million. This is a new record for opening night showings. Previous record holder was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 with only $43.5 million.
The Force Awakens has also seen great success internationally with $72.7 million already brought in from its first two days. Additional records set are for advance tickets (over $100 million) and selling more tickets than any other film in Fandango history.
This is incredible news for the Star Wars franchise. With the last films to come out being Episode I, II, and III, some were worried that Episode VII would cripple under our own hype for it. While box office sales don’t always fall in line with quality, this movie has been very well received critically.
We highly suggest you go see Star War: The Force Awakens. If you have already seen it, we highly suggest you go see it a second, third, fourth, and fifth time as well.
