Disney has released a brand spankin’ new Zootopia trailer for our viewing pleasure, giving us a look at what viewers can expect from the upcoming cartoon film.
The new trailer already has us laughing, with cutesy ideas like the DMV being run by sloths, angry antelope neighbors, and a rabbit and a fox working together to solve a problem.
In Zootopia, the story follows a rookie police officer Judy Hopps (a rabbit) as she tries to fit in with a police force of big, tough animals. She will attempt to solve a case, causing her to partner up with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde.
The Zootopia cast includes Idris Elba, Ginnifer Goodwin, Alan Tudyk, Jason Bateman, and J.K. Simmons, to name a handful. It’s directed by Byron Howard (Tangled, Bolt) and Rich More (Wreck-It Ralph, The Simpsons), and co-directed by Jared Bush.
At the first announcement, we weren’t expecting much out of Zootopia. In fact, we expected it to have similar moments seen in movies like Over the Hedge or Open Season. Of course, underestimating Disney was our downfall, and judging by this new trailer, the new movie could become the surprise hit animated comedy of 2016.
The Zootopia release date is set for March 4, 2016, and it’s just one of the many upcoming animated movies of 2016.
