If you’ve been standing around waiting for a Nickelodeon-themed movie in the style of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, you might want to sit down for this one. Paramount Pictures has announced the Nicktoons movie, an upcoming cartoon and live-action blend film that will bring together characters from numerous ’90s Nickelodeon cartoons.
According to Deadline, the movie is being directed by Jared Hess, the man behind such films as Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre. The film is being written by Jerusha Hess, and it will feature characters from Nick’s heyday, including Rocko’s Modern Life, Rugrats, and Ren and Stimpy.
Plot details and a potential NickToons release date window are scarce as of right now, but we’ll keep you posted here at Nerd Much as we learn more.
Nickelodeon also has a Hey Arnold! movie in production, and those who want their fill of more classic Nickelodeon toons can tune-in weeknights to the 90s block of programming on TeenNick. For now, there are plenty of other kids movies in theaters and animated movies to rely on.
