The eighth film in the series will be officially titled SAW: Legacy, and it will be executive produced by the original SAW director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell.
Plot details for the upcoming horror movie is being kept under wraps, so we don’t know exactly what the new Jigsaw killer’s story will be about, specifically. We do know that Lionsgate and James Wan know what they’re doing though, given that the SAW franchise has grossed over $870 million worldwide on a modest budget. And, the film now has writers in duo Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg.
Wan is coming off of directing Furious 7 and The Conjuring, and he has The Conjuring 2 coming out in 2016. There’s no word on whether or not actor Tobin Bell will reprise his role as Jigsaw (for which he is best known), but the odds aren’t looking good, given the fact that he currently has four movies entering pre-production this year. So, whether or not he’ll reprise his role in the torture porn series is yet to be known.
