Yesterday it was revealed via Deadline, that director Corin Hardy is the director that’s leading The Conjuring 2 spin-off film titled The Nun. Hardy confirmed this via Twitter, however, there is no real release date in sight since he is currently working on The Crow movie. For those who are worrying that this will be another Annabelle scenario, fear not as The Conjuring 2 director James Wan will be co-writing the script with Gary Dauberman.
The film itself also seems to be in good hands, as Corin Hardy previous horror film The Hollow showed he has a good eye for composition and producing scares. The Nun is most likely to be a prequel to The Conjuring 2 and is centered around this warped, malicious entity. For those who haven’t seen The Conjuring 2, The Nun was the main antagonist for the film and was involved in one of the most terrifying sequences in 2016.
More From Nerd Much?:
There’s a lot of pressure on Hardy right now to deliver, as spin-offs of horror films are usually received rather poorly by fans and critics alike. However, given that Wan is helping with this movie it’s possible that The Nun can break this trend and produce another worthy entry in The Conjuring horror franchise. All we can do for now is cross our fingers and hope that Hardy can send shivers down our spines.
