Ready Player One Casts its Leading Role

ready player oneReady Player One has finally found its leading role. Actor Tye Sherida, from X-Men: Apocalypse, has been cast in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming movie.

According to Deadline, Sheridan will play Wade in the adaptation of Ernest Cline’s sci-fi novel. Opposing him in the movie will be Olivia Cook and Ben Mendelsohn as Art3mis and Nolan Sorrento.

As Spielberg describes it, Ready Player One is “a crystal ball into exactly what is going to be happening not in 30 or 40 years but in between 5 and 10 years from now, where a virtual world becomes almost like a drug of choice and where we are spending more time in a non-organic space than we are breathing and eating and interacting in real life.”

We definitely think this is a terrifying concept, especially with virtual reality becoming more and more prevalent. The book did a fantastic job of bringing you into this future, so we have some high hopes for the upcoming film.

To get an idea of Sheridan’s acting shops, we look forward to his appearance as young Cyclops in Brian Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Landing such prominent acting gigs in quick succession makes us eager to see what he brings to the table.

Ready Player One begins filming this June and is scheduled for a 2017 release. This give you plenty of time to check out the book first. You can find a copy right here.
