Fantastic Beasts Trilogy Confirmed by J.K. Rowling

fantastic beasts trilogySo remember how we thought that the upcoming Harry Potter prequel might open up the doors for some other movie spin-offs? Now we know we’re already getting a Fantastic Beasts trilogy.

The reveal comes from J.K. Rowling’s personal Twitter. The tweet was in response to a fan who had hear that the upcoming stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, would also be made into a movie. Her message reads, “You heard wrong I’m afraid. Cursed Child is a play. Fantastic Beasts will be 3 movies though!”

This news isn’t entirely surprising since Harry Potter took everyone by storm back when it was just a book and again with the movie series.

The Fantastic Beasts trilogy tells the story of Newt Scamander, a Magizoologist with a briefcase full of magical creatures. With Rowling penning the screenplay herself, you can be sure that the movie will be stuffed with much of the same charm that made the original movies so magical.

Starring as Newt is Eddie Redmayne, known most recently for The Danish Girl and The Theory of Everything. With an Oscar for best performance from the latter and a nomination for the former, we can expect some great acting from Redmayne.

In case you missed it, check out the trailer for the upcoming movie below. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is scheduled to release this November.
