Is Disney’s A Christmas Carol on TV This Year?

No, as of right now, Disney’s A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey isn’t scheduled to be on TV. However, you can stay tuned to our epic compendium of the Christmas movies on TV for updates.

What is A Christmas Carol About, Exactly?

Third time’s a charm for Disney’s latest retelling of the Charles Dickens’ classic 1843 novella. This time Disney tapped Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis to run the show –the perfect pick considering his experience with the past, present, and future!

It’s Christmas Eve and greedy Ebenezer Scrooge isn’t in the mood. He rejects his nephew’s invite to Christmas dinner, refuses to donate to charity, and becomes irate when his employee asks for Christmas day off  – through he relents and begrudgingly grants him his request.

That night Scrooge receives a visit from the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him that if he doesn’t mend his ways he’ll end up locked in chains in the afterlife – much like Marley has. Marley lets Scrooge know that he’ll be visited by three spirits that night to help him change his ways – the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future. They’ll take Scrooge for quite a ride through his childhood, his coworker’s merry Christmas dinner, and a bleak future yet to come if things remain as they are.

Will Ebenezer Scrooge see the light? Will he change his miserly ways? We have a feeling you know how the story ends, but we won’t spoil it for you!

Four Jim Carreys!?

While Jim Carrey may be known for being somewhat of a recluse these days, he took on four roles in A Christmas Carol. Not only does he voice the miserable Ebenezer Scrooge (in all his incarnations), he also plays the roles of the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future.

More About A Christmas Carol

Roger Ebert granted the film a four out of four stars in the Chicago Sun-Times. It opened at #1 at close to 4000 theaters and topped the box office charts twice in the UK – when it first opened, and again five weeks later. It was made using the process of motion capture and is the first of only two features produced by ImageMovers Digital – which closed up shop in 2011.
