According to Variety, they are currently talking with current director Jon Favreau and screenwriter Justin Marks. Their hope is that the two will return to work on a sequel. Additionally, Disney is in negotiations with Favreau and Brigham Taylor to come back as producers.
The Jungle Book, one of our most anticipated family movies of 2016, is expected to make a lot of money domestically during its opening weekend. Critics have already been praising the movie with some of the best reviews this year.
Already, the movie has pulled in $28.9 million from various Asian and Latin American markets. This includes $7.6 million from India alone. This makes it the second highest opening for an American release.
If you somehow missed out on the classic Disney cartoon growing up, both movies are based on Rudyard Kipling’s stories about a boy named Mowgli. Abandoned as a young boy, he gets raised by wolves, granting him many friends in the jungle.

We’re not exactly sure what The Jungle Book 2 could be about, but if this movie is as good as critics say, it’ll be hard to complain.
