According to GamingBolt, GameStop’s Paul Raines shared his thoughts on a digital-only Nintendo NX during the company’s recent earnings call.
“I would say that the fact that there are rumors of that type just confirms for you that this is an important console for next year,” he said. “It will have physical media, we will play a role in it, our pre-owned business will also play a role. So we’re excited about that.”

Additionally, Gamestop’s Mike Mauler discussed the logistics and economics of both a disc-based system and a cartridge- based system.
“The only difference would be on the refurbishment and pre-owned side,” he said. “And actually, cartridges are much simpler to refurbish and repackage. So there is somewhat a little bit of an advantage if it went in that direction on used.”
It is definitely interesting to hear GameStop’s perspective, but everything they say should still be taken with a heavy pinch of salt. They aren’t Nintendo and they have very little knowledge of the Nintendo NX. Whether or not we end up with a digital-only Nintendo NX or not is still up in the air. We don’t completely hate the idea, do you?
