A new trailer for Pokémon Sun/Moon released this morning, revealing six more of the new creatures to be featuhttp://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/red in the upcoming game – horribly punny names and all. They are native to the new region of Alola, which is based on real-life Hawaii, as the Pokémon resembling a lei would indicate. Read on for details of each of these new monsters (taken from the official Pokémon Sun and Moon site), some of which possess brand-new, never-before-seen abilities. As for our favorite, it’s probably a toss-up between Mimikya and Bewear.
Also revealed is the new Hyper Training feature; while mini-games that allow you to train your Pokémon’s EV have been included in the past, none have been like this. You will now be able to increase the stats of your Level 100 Pokémon by collecting bottle caps (possible Fallout reference?) and bringing them to the fittingly-named Mr. Hyper, who apparently covets them.
Category: Turn Tail Pokémon
Weight: 26.5 lbs
Ability: Wimp Out
This cowardly Pokémon is very wary of noises and sounds, and will run off if approached by a group. When threatened, they spit a poisonous liquid that alerts other nearby Wimpod to danger. They are also highly curious, though, so they may approach a target that is standing still. They are esteemed as cleaners due to their tendency to scavenge garbage, and can sometimes be found holding valuable items. It’s Wimp Out ability is new and causes the Pokémon to run away or swap out when its HP drops below half in battle.
Category: Fruit Pokémon
Weight: 7.1 lbs.
Ability: Leaf Guard / Oblivious
Bounsweet gives off a pleasant scent which has a calming effect on humans, causing some to use it as a live-in air freshener. Disturbingly, though, its scent apparently also attracts predatory Pokémon that may swallow it whole. It flees said predators by skipping, which fails to alert others that it’s in grave danger; therefore, no one ever comes to its rescue. It deters enemies by rotating the calyx on its head, which in turn leaves it dizzy.
Category: Posy Picker Pokémon
Weight: 0.7 lbs.
Ability: Flower Veil / Triage
Comfey (the aforementioned lei-resembling Pokémon) picks flowers and uses them to make a ring, which it then covers in its own oil to make them give off a soothing fragrance. Due to this soothing fragrance, it often works to treat the sick at Pokémon Centers and hospitals. When other Pokémon attack, it throws flowers at them and uses the opportunity to flee. It also possesses the new Triage ability, which means its restorative moves are the highest priority in battle.
Category: Draft Horse Pokémon
Weight: 2028.3 lbs.
Ability: Own Tempo / Stamina
Mudsdale is not only physically strong, but possessed of an emotional fortitude that prevents it from being agitated. Its legs are coated in mud, which adds weight to its kicks so that it is able to defeat its opponents with one powerful blow. Its hooves can cause huge holes when it gallops, even in asphalt, so it is forbidden to run on public roads. Its new Stamina ability causes its Defense to increase by 1 whenever it’s attacked.

Category: Disguise Pokémon
Weight: 1.5 lbs.
This one may look like a badly-drawn Pikachu, but that’s only because of the disguise it wears (like a Ditto but less convincing). Legend around the Alola region says that anyone who looks beneath its cloth will suffer a mysterious illness. The sun is harmful to it, so it prefers dark places, which may be the reason for the costume. The choice of Pikachu is due to the popularity of Pikachu merchandise and its desire to befriend humans to ease its loneliness (still not as emo as Cubone’s description). The Disguise ability is another new one, which allows Mimikyu to avoid damage once, before changing appearance entirely.
Category: Strong Arm Pokémon
Weight: 297.6 lbs.
The name may make us cringe a little, but this creature is undeniably adorable. Don’t be fooled by its endearing appearance, however; this guy is a menace. So much that there are warning signs posted around Alola about it. As it grows attached to its trainer, however, it may display its affection with a good old-fashioned bear hug. It needs to be taught restraint, though, so it doesn’t literally smother you. The creators expect us to take seriously how dangerous it is with a new ability called Fluffy, which halves damage from attacks that come in direct contact (but aptly doubles fire damage). It may be a fluffy klutz, but beware.
