A Life is Strange TV show is being planned from a partnership between Square Enix and Legendary Entertainment. Prepare your tissues now.
In an interview, Life is Strange co-creator Michael Koch told IGN how they went to Legendary in order to “expand the universe” of the game. With the deal still being so new, there is no mention of release date or story.
While this could very well be an adaptation of the existing game, the Life is Strange TV show could be a completely different plot within the same location.
Square Enix’s VP of European Marketing, John Brooke, mentions that the how features ” a new version of Arcadia Bay and Blackwell Academy complete with our rich cast of realistic, believable characters and memorable events.”
The deal does mention a partnership with the game’s developer Dontnod, but it is unclear how much input they will have on the show. “We don’t know how much we will be involved in this,” Koch admits, “but we know that there’s enough material from the characters, the universe, the visuals, the references anyway to build something new and interesting. I think it’s really exciting to see what other creators will be able to bring into this.”
Previously, Dontnod mentioned a second season of Life is Strange. “We don’t think the TV show will have any impact on what we’re doing, or what we’re planning”, says Koch. “But we cannot really talk more about that.”
If you haven’t had the chance to play one of the most gripping stories of a young teenager, we highly suggest you check this one out. We highly recommend plenty of tissues.Buy Life is Strange here.
