According to the network, since many of those on both casts can sing, the executive producers want to take advantage of it by bringing the two together for a couple of Supergirl/Arrow musical crossovers. The announcement was made during the CW’s combined panel for Supergirl, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash this afternoon.
There was no time frame given for the superhero musical crossover events, but at least the network noted that they’re simply on the way.

This was just one of the numerous announcements made during the panel. We also learned that Supergirl will add Sharon Leal (best known to us for her role in Grimm and Boston Public) to the cast as Miss Martian. Christopher Wood (Containment, Vampire Diaries) has also joined the Supergirl Season 2 cast as Mon-El, who is described by showrunners as a superhero with powers similar to Supergirl. Of course, Mon-El in the DC Comics universe is Lar Gand who has associations with the Legion of Super-Heroes, Superman, and Superboy.
What’s more, we learned that “one of the characters on one of the shows will explore their sexuality”. Whatever that means.
Earlier today, The CW also released the official Supergirl Season 2 synopsis which gave us very little new information about what to expect. Now, at least, we know why it’s so vague.
