The Jumanji cast has added one more to its roster. Karen Gillan from Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy, will be playing the part of Martha.
This was reported this morning by Deadline. She will be joining the rest of the Jumanji cast including Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Nick Jonas. Directing the upcoming movie is Jake Kasdan from Bad Teacher and Sex Tape.
Sony Pictures‘ upcoming film is said to be a continuation of the original that starred Robin Williams back in 1995. The sequel is aiming for a July 28, 2017 release date. The most recent script was written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. This new script is based off an original draft written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
More From Nerd Much?:
Gillan became much more famous after starring in Doctor Who as Amelia Pond. She played The Doctor’s companion and had one of the most interesting story arcs in the series’ history. She then starred in Guardians of the Galaxy and will reprise her role as Nebula in the sequel.
We are excited by such a star-studded Jumanji cast and have really high hopes for this blast from the past. Let’s cross our fingers that the franchise survives the 20-year jump.
