Each of these new PS4 peripherals will be sold separately, with most of them being available as soon as next week.
To start things off, let’s look at the new version of the DualShock 4 controller going forward. This redesign will be included with each new edition of the PS4 and will be sold separately for $59. The only change we are aware of is that the touchpad has been adjusted to allow part of the lightbar to shine through. This allows you to finally see the atmospheric color changes that some games have implemented while playing.
Next up we have the new Playstation Camera. Basically, this has all the same internal components of the previous version, but has a redesigned cylindrical shape. The real thing to note here is the inclusion of an angle-adjusting stand. This should make it work much better with the upcoming Playstation VR. Just like the controller, it will cost $59.
More From Nerd Much?:
For audiophiles, Sony is releasing the new Platinum Wireless Headset. The design resembles the Gold Wireless Headset, but features a more premiere form-factor. They also feature 7.1 virtual surround sound, 3D audio, noise-cancelling hidden microphone, and a 3.5mm audio cable for connecting to other devices. The 3D audio should be especially helpful with the Playstation VR. The Platinum Wireless Headset will release for $159.
Lastly, we have the new vertical stand for both the PS3 Slim and the PS4 Pro. This means if you like your consoles to rest vertically, you will need to purchase the new stand as the old stand will not be compatible. This translucent stand will set you back $24.
Out of these new PS4 peripherals, everything except the headset will be available starting September 15. Sadly, you will have to wait until this holiday season to get your hands on the new headset.
