Yooka-Laylee Release Date Announced Alongside Stage Trailer

The Yooka-Laylee release date has finally landed! In just four months, we will finally have the spiritual successor to one of the greatest N64 games.

Playtonic Games made the announcement early this morning alongside the release of the above stage trailer. For everyone who has been eager to play, the wait is almost over. The Yooka-Laylee release date has been set for April 11, 2017. The game will release simultaneously on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC for $40. Console players will have the option to purchase a physical copy.

Originally, Yooka-Laylee was set to also release on the Nintendo Wii U. According to Playtonic, development is looking to transfer to the upcoming Nintendo Switch.

“We’re sad to announce that despite our best efforts and exploring every possible avenue, we have encountered unforeseen technical issues that unfortunately mean it will be impossible for us to release Yooka-Laylee on Wii U as initially planned.” said studio director Gavin Price. “We can, however, confirm today that we are working very closely with Nintendo to look to bring Yooka-Laylee to the upcoming Nintendo Switch.”

The trailer above was released to reveal a new world for the duo to explore. Capital Cashino will require players to compete for casino tokens. Tokens can then be exchanged for Pagies from the banker.

We are extremely excited to jump back into 3D platformers. The Yooka-Laylee release date can’t get here soon enough. Please excuse us while we freeze ourselves until April 11 arrives.
