Well, it looks like Nintendo has finally discovered PS3 level graphics and Any Arts Productions is definitely cashing in. Seasons of Heaven certainly looks like very beautiful in this brand new trailer posted by the indie studio themselves. The trailer contains mostly sweeping panoramas of the game’s various settings, and little gameplay that is certain to be unique adventure and exploration game. The player controls a young boy and his dog through a series of beautiful landscapes, and at one point event speaks with a ghost. I’m most interested to see what combat looks like, as this game has managed to look very unique despite the clear inspiration from the Zelda series.
Hardly anything is known about this studio, save that they have moved their studio to Los Angeles, originally a French studio. Nonetheless, the game is based off of a book by the same title and penned by Nico Augusto, the CEO/Creative Director and Producer of the game. So basically, if you want to know more about the game, read the book. According to the summary, it’s about a group of survivors that learn “humans across the world literally died as a result of their own careless actions. Centuries of lying waste to the very land that sustained them was what would kill them in the end… Seasons of Heaven will take you from deep inside of a mystical forest at the beginning of time all the way through to the twenty-first century and the fall of civilization. It will take you on a journey with Yann, a young boy with Asperger’s syndrome and his faithful companion, Ani, a French bulldog who Yann is able to communicate with through telepathy.” It’s quite clear what inspired Augusto, especially in the video below, but who knows what kind of story Seasons of Heaven will really tell with such a mysterious excerpt from the book.
More From Nerd Much?:
I can’t decide if this game is going to get a lot darker than a boy’s journey towards growing up or not, especially with such bright happy colors in the trailer. However, Augusto has made it clear he’s a big fan of Resident Evil and that paranormal, so it’s certainly possible. What do you think so far? Let us know in the comments below! Seasons of Heaven is confirmed for the Nintendo Switch.
