Nintendo Switch Sold Out At GameStop

To no one’s surprise ever, Nintendo did not actually handle the pre-orders at release better this time around. The Nintendo Switch was sold out within the day at many retailers and most especially GameStop. The company would like to report that it has sold out of pre-orders and likely won’t have more until sometime after the console launches. Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop, released a statement to the press trying to ease the ruffled feathers of customers:

“The fact that this initial allotment has been completely reserved in a matter of a few days demonstrates gamers desire for this fun and revolutionary gaming system, we’re working closely with Nintendo to get additional Nintendo Switch units, and will let our customers know when they become available. We encourage customers to visit and sign up to be get updates about the product and availability.”

As no one can really predict how well or not sales will go, we can’t really blame Nintendo for having sold out within the day. Heck, even the PSVR comes in limited amounts almost five months after it launched. So keep in mind, the Switch releases on March 3rd, 2017 for $299.99 and confirmed games so far are listed here.
