Google Pixel Smartphone Officially Revealed

Google Pixel has officially been revealed. This new, streamlined phone makes an impressive first step into the market. For now, it will remain a Google Fi and Verizon exclusive.

The new Google Pixel features a minimalist design that looks similar to other high-end smartphones, but with a unique touch. They will come in three colors that feature Google’s sense of humor — Very Silver, Really Blue, and Quite Black.

Both the Pixel and Pixel XL include beautiful AMOLED screens. These are the screens that the Samsung Galaxy has become famous for. Powering the phone is the brand-new quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM.

Powering all this might be a concern. Luckily, the phones will house some impressively large batteries. They also support quick charging, giving you up to 70% of your power in just 15 minutes.

Power isn’t the only feature either. the Google Pixel is marketing the”best smartphone camera anyone has ever made.” It’s sporting a 12.3 megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1.55um sensor size, and optical stabilization. Even the front camera is an impressive 8-megapixels. Making the photos better is a feature called Smart Burst. This takes multiple shots and automatically chooses the best. HDR Plus also shoots “clear, vivid pictures” in “challenging conditions.”

Taking all these photos would take a lot of space. That’s why we’re excited that Pixel comes with free “unlimited” storage for full-resolution photos with Google Photos.

Whether you want Google Pixel or Pixel XL, you can choose from two different memory options. Here is how the pricing breaks down:

  • 32GB Pixel: $650 or $27 per month for 24 months
  • 128GB Pixel: $750 or $31 per month for 24 months
  • 32GB Pixel XL $770 or $32 month for 24 months
  • 128GB Pixel XL: $870 or $36 per month for 24 months

In the US, you can purchase either model exclusively from Google Fi or Verizon. Pre-orders are available starting today.

Google also announced Google Home today — their version of Amazon Echo.
