Netflix has picked up yet another original series to be excited about, as the streaming giant has announced that they’ve picked up streaming rights to Travelers, an original sci-fi series revolving around time travel.
The series is created and written by Brad Wright, who was one of the co-creators of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis. Travelers will be set hundreds of years in the future when the last surviving humans discover how to time travel their consciousness back into people in the 21st century. The time travelers take on the lives of random people while performing missions in secret to attempt to save humanity from its terrible future. But once they travel back to the 21st century, they realize that juggling their lives and relationships are as much of a challenge as the missions they’re trying to complete.
Travelers will air live on Showcase, a Canadian TV channel, and will then be carried exclusively on Netflix.
Travelers will star Eric McCormack, as well as a mostly Canadian cast that includes MacKenzie Porter, Jared Abrahamson, and more.
It certainly sounds like an interesting drama, and it’s no secret that we here at Nerd Much love all things time travel and sci-fi. So, we’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on this one to see how formidable it turns out being.
