HBO has been coy as to when Season 2 of the fantastic Westworld is poised to return on the premium cable network. All that has been discussed is a slot sometime in 2018. But one of the show’s main stars has tweeted when in 2018 we can expect to see it again.
Evan Rachel Wood, the series’ lead Dolores Abernathy on the show, recently responded to a fan tweet. The fan stated that they were “going crazy” awaiting a return date. Evan Rachel Wood then responded with some delightful information:

That’s right, our return trip to Westworld should be less than six months away. This is great news for the show in general. The first season was mired with all sorts of problems before production finally got on track and schedule. So while we’ll be getting Season 2’s debut well over a year after Season 1’s premiere date, the production still appears to be full steam ahead. The show’s creative minds of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy warned us there would be a long gap between Season 1’s end and Season 2’s premiere anyway, so this Spring 2018 slot is really no surprise.
Another interesting thing of note is that Westworld looks as though it is ready to inhabit what is historically Game of Thrones‘ timeframe of the year to premiere. While Season 6 of Game of Thrones was pushed a bit and began in July, Seasons 1 through 6 always started airing in either March or April. Westworld may be taking over the mantle of HBO’s most pop culture centric program.
So, thanks to Evan Rachel Wood’s tweet, we have a semi-official time frame as to when Westworld will once again be hitting our screens. Now we just have to cross our fingers and hope that Game of Thrones’ final season will be ready to roll out when Westworld wraps up. Or maybe HBO just nails the cross promotion brand synergy and teases Westeros World at the end of Season 2. Either will do.
