Death By Magic Trailer Features Some Truly Terrifying Tricks

Netflix is calling it “the most extreme magic show ever attempted”. I’m calling it bat-shit crazy. Today’s Death by Magic trailer introduces us to the British magician, Drummond Money-Coutts (DMC), and shows us some of the death-defying tricks he’ll be attempting in his upcoming streaming series.

Drummond Money-Coutts states that he was inspired in his new Netflix series by the famous magicians of old. DMC seeks to “uncover the stories of magicians who died performing the most dangerous stunts ever attempted.” And what better way to visualize those traumatic events than by doing them yourself? Sounds rational.

Today’s Death by Magic trailer shows DMC traveling the globe on his quest “to track down where the fatal performances took place and to work out exactly what went wrong.” Netflix says DMC’s journey will span over 8 cities across 4 different continents, so we’ll get to see hints of how old-school magicians might have differed based upon the locale in which they worked.

The plan is for DMC to “pay homage to the craft by creating his own updated versions of the stunts that cost these magicians their lives, from being buried alive under tons of wet concrete, to playing a game of Russian roulette, to escaping from a collision with a speeding steam train.” It’s pretty safe to assume that the modern magician makes it out of each of these feats alive. But judging by the crowd’s reaction throughout the Death by Magic trailer, DMC might not always make it out of these situations unscathed.

Death by Magic was just announced for a premiere date of Friday, November 30th. Check out the trailer above and see for yourself whether this intense new series is right up your alley, or whether DMC’s insanely dangerous antics are just too much for you.
