Netflix has finally offered us a new trailer that discloses The Punisher Season 2 release date. And in typical Netflix fashion, we don’t have long to wait between trailer and premiere.
The Punisher Season 2 release date is set for January 18th on Netflix. In the series, the studio teases that “Frank Castle can run but he can’t hide from who he’s meant to be.” They state that “with Castle’s former brother-in-arms Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) slowly beginning to heal from the traumatic brain injury Frank inflicted on him, it’s only a matter of time before Billy starts to put the pieces of the puzzle back together.”
But how Russo and Castle become intertwined once again revolves around a more nefarious note. Here is how Netflix is teasing what’s to come within Season 2:
“Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham). As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as The Punisher.”
If you’ve been a fan of Netflix’s Marvel originals, it’s probably best that you enjoy Frank while he lasts. Netflix has been gutting their Marvel slate, with The Defenders, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil all getting the axe.
It’s entirely possible that following The Punisher Season 2 release date, the clock begins ticking until Frank’s number is called. Which would then only leave Jessica Jones as the only hero left standing. But as Netflix notes, “He isn’t the one who dies. He’s the one that does the killing.” So perhaps we can hold out hope for move of The Punisher following Season 2.
