American Gods wrapped its debut season with a finale that aired on June 18th, 2017. Following that, there were a bunch of shake ups behind the scenes, including a complete overhaul on the creative side of things. This caused delays on Season 2’s production, and even doubt as to whether it would ever even happen. Well, it is. And Starz has dropped the first American Gods Season 2 trailer to prove it.
Due to the lengthy time off between seasons, both Kristin Chenoweth’s Easter and Gillian Anderson’s Media will be absent due to scheduling conflicts. Media will now go by New Media with South Korean actress Kahyun Kim earning the role. You can catch a quick glimpse at Kahyun Kim’s New Media in the American Gods Season 2 trailer above.
The character is now being described as “the goddess of global content and in this age, a cyberspace chameleon, who is also a master of manipulation.” There’s no word on what fate Easter will meet. Though the Season 1 finale did seem to indicate the character would be important going forward.
As you can see from the American Gods Season 2 trailer above, there’s a lot of crazy shit that our friend Shadow Moon is being thrust into. Book readers will know that when the Old Gods converge on the House on the Rock, it’s a pivotal moment for the story.
That very moment, revolving around a certain carousel, is teased within the American Gods Season 2 trailer. I won’t spoil exactly what transpires here, but the events are literally unbelievable to our lead character, causing Shadow to ask “Did that happen?”
You’ll have to tune in for yourself to find out what’s real and what’s not. Starz has announced that American Gods returns for its second season on Sunday, March 10th at 8:00 p.m. Which side of the war to come are you taking?
