Black Mirror Season 5 Trailer Teases the 3 New Stories

Following the success of Netflix’s choose your own adventure styled Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the series looks to be returning back to its proper form. The studio released the first Black Mirror Season 5 trailer today, showcasing the star studded cast on display in the next series of episodes.

Black Mirror Season 5 will be comprised of three episodes, just as Season 1 and Season 2 did before it. The cast is loaded though, with prominent players including Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin.

Many of them are on display in the Black Mirror Season 5 trailer. We can’t say for sure who will be playing alongside who. But it appears that Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus and Topher Grace are likely the leads in the three separate stories.

If you’re unfamiliar with the premise of the show, Netflix describes Black Mirror as “an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.”

Black Mirror is created and written by executive producer Charlie Brooker alongside his partner and fellow executive producer, Annabel Jones. Each of the show’s four seasons have received critical acclaim, though numbers have dipped just a bit in the show’s last few outings.

Many fans have speculated and hoped that we could potentially get sequels to prior season’s stories within Season 5. In 2016, Brooker noted that he had ideas for sequels to “White Bear” and “Be Right Back”. Though he stated it was unlikely they would be made. The Black Mirror Season 5 trailer essentially confirms these three new episodes will be all new tales.

Hopefully Brooker and Jones continues bringing us fantastic futuristic stories our way next month. Black Mirror Season 5 begins streaming June 5th. For other shows and movies coming to Netflix soon, browse through our dedicated hub here.
