Rick and Morty Season 2 Blu-Ray Review

Rick and Morty Season 2 blu-ray reviewRick and Morty has undoubtedly become one of the best shows on TV right now. Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland are the creators of this Adult Swim show, which is a masterclass in comedy and outlandish scenarios. A fantastic cast – including Justin Roiland himself, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and an endless amount of guest appearances – paired with great writing has lead to a revitalization of the animated comedy genre. Rick and Morty has continually impressed fans by making the universe, along with an infinite number of alternate dimensions, a playground of science for Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty. Every episode in season 2 is an instant classic worth watching many times. The endless amount of laughter that comes with watching the show is insane; you’ll find yourself laughing at things you’d never expect to see on an animated show, let alone TV. From floating heads in the sky to plumbuses, the show invents new concepts that are as funny as they are weird.

The Blu-ray contains many extra features that you won’t find anywhere else, including 13 different commentary tracks, animatics for each episode, and deleted scenes. These features are worth checking out as they give you new layers of appreciation for the talent and hard work that goes into such a ridiculous show. Naturally, it’s easier to purchase and watch the episodes online, but owning a physical copy is satisfying as you also receive an owner’s manual for a plumbus, which describes the proper use and warnings that come with such a tool, which is essential for every home. The video quality for the Blu-ray is crisp and smooth, with few to no issues. The audio is also fantastic, featuring uncensored content for another layer of enjoyment, as the show feels even more out there.

Rick and Morty Season 2 blu-ray review

Rick and Morty features a semi-nuclear family that is tossed into crazy adventures by their “genius” of a grandpa, Rick: There is Jerry Smith, the unemployed, clueless father; Beth Smith is the alcoholic, angry mother; Summer Smith is the sister that wants to be cool and fit in with the popular kids; Morty is the mindless, insane boy that just wants to do the right thing, whatever that is. The family goes through a plethora of insanity on a regular basis. In the episode Total Rickall, for example, the Smiths are surprised by a parasite that infects their memories, creating a massive array of new characters and confusing the family as to what is real and what is just a lie. The house goes into lockdown mode and the insanity that ensues is hilarious and unforgettable.

As a whole, the second season of Rick and Morty is strong — really strong. The show is continually high quality and is worth watching through multiple times. Without a doubt any fan of the show should consider buying this blu-ray — it’s filled with outrageous commentary, deleted scenes, and an uncensored look into the absolutely wild universe that contains Rick and Morty.
