As expected, Netflix has renewed their popular new original series, Stranger Things, for a second go.
This morning, the streaming media giant announced their renewal of the series via a YouTube and Twitter teaser, which teases Stranger Things Season 2 for some point in 2017.

We don’t know when in 2017 we should expect Stranger Things 2, but hopefully, it doesn’t take too long to get more episodes into our hands.
Of course, we already knew that it was inevitable that Netflix would announce a second season for their hit sci-fi series, as the Duffer Brothers haven’t exactly been quiet about talking about the season. The duo told Variety earlier this summer that there’s a “bigger mythology” to tell, and that they wanted to explore it if Netflix would allow. Last week, we received details about Season 2 — you know, if there were to be a second season — which notes that it’ll take place in 1984 and will feature a tone inspired by Temple of Doom, Karate Kid, and Gremlins. When you pair the language they were using in their discussions, the hype and ratings behind the new series, and Netflix’s Chief Content officer Ted Sarandos saying the door was left open during the TCA press tour, it was all but officially announced, anyway.
We are worried that a second season could have diminishing returns for the 80s-inspired series, but we’re certainly looking forward to seeing what surprises the upcoming season might hold. The first season of the series is one of the best first seasons of any television show we’ve watched, putting itself right up there with Heroes or Dexter season 1. Let’s hope it doesn’t get too weird and go too far off path like those series did, though.
