An Alfred Hitchcock TV series is in the works that will act as an anthology series. Welcome to Hitchcock will be “in the spirit of the classic Hitchcock style and legacy.”
The deal with the Hitchcock estate was announced today by Universal Cable Productions. This Alfred Hitchcock TV series will “reimagine” his classic tales. Each new season will focus on a mystery. According to The Hollywood Reporter, some of his most popular works including The Birds, Psycho, and the show Alfred Hitchcock Presents will be adapted.
“Long after his death, Alfred Hitchcock continues to be one of the most celebrated directors and visionaries in the world, a master manipulator of the macabre,” said executive vice president Dawn Olmstead. “We’re honored that the Hitchcock Estate has put its trust in our studio to pay homage to his work.”
If you are worried that the Alfred Hitchcock TV show will bastardize the source material, don’t worry. Katie O’Connell-Fiala said on behalf of the Hitchcock Trust, “Our grandfather always collaborated with the best and the brightest to help shape his vision. We’re confident that Universal Cable Productions will take great care in helping us to continue preserving his legacy.”
Welcome to Hitchcock won’t mark the first time Hitchcock’s work has been adapted either. Previously, A&E’s Bate’s Motel acts as a prequel to Psycho. Interestingly enough, it was produced by corporate sibling Universal Television.
We have a lot of hope for another Alfred Hitchcock TV series, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
