Luke Cage Release Date Has Been Announced

luke cageNetflix and Marvel have found great success so far with Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Later this year, we will get the chance to enjoy Luke Cage as well.

During the New York City premiere of the new season of Daredevil, Mike Colter casually revealed this his series would premiere September 30 of this year.

It is interesting to see where a show centered around Cage will go. He played a fairly prominent part in Jessica Jones, but Colter has been adamant about it not just feeling like a sequel.

“We pride ourselves in all being unique shows, and Luke Cage is definitely not a sequel to Jessica Jones or a spinoff,” says Colter. “The show that we’re filming now is completely different. He goes off to uptown and he does his own thing, and there will be some of that. The time lapse is not that long, and so it’s not like Jessica Jones never happened. I think in the world of Jessica Jones, what I enjoyed about being in that world as Luke Cage is that I wasn’t front and center.”

At this point, we feel like everything Marvel and Netflix work together on will turn to gold. We can find out how well that holds up when Daredevil: Season 2 airs in one week on March 18.
